Leap of Faith
Early one morning in 1930, when Carl was 14, he left his mother a note before jumping on his horse and riding out West to realize his dream of being a cowboy.
Dear Ma, I’m going to Montana.I have the money I got for Christmas. My books are under aunts porch. I know I will make good. I prayed all last night I would. Please don’t try to get me. With love to all, Carl
He took a leap of faith that paid off. He became a successful rancher and found Wilma, the cowgirl of his dreams. The original handwritten note to his mother is framed and hangs proudly above his bed at the assisted living facility where he now lives. Carl points it out to everyone who comes to visit to remind us all that dreams really can come true.
