Family and friends bang their heads against the wall when the dying don’t take their well intended advice. We think we know what’s best for the people we love (and sometimes for strangers too). Maybe we’ve “been there, done that” and we know probable outcomes from experience.
Here is my unsolicited advice to take or leave. Ask the dying (or anyone in struggle), “what is the most loving thing I can do for you right now?” Honor the answer. It may be, “I need to be alone.”
